Batik is an ancient art of cloth decoration. The origins of it are still being debated, however evidence of cloth decoration through resist technique goes back to more then 1000 years ago. Word "batik" is Indonesian in origin and refers to wax-resist dyeing technique used on textile.

Painting on silk has become a very special hobby for me, as it presents practically unlimited possibilities and ways of expression through different techniques, paints/dyes, and types of silk, allowing creating not only decorative art but also one-in-a-kind wearable pieces. Each and every experience with silk is unique, filled with surprises, extremely satisfying, almost meditative.

Most of my work is done in cold batik technique. All of the scarves in the gallery are differently priced and can be created per order. Please contact me if you are interested in ordering a design or purchasing an existing piece.
